Meet Tonya

Meet Tonya!

Do you have a bucket list? I created one years ago, having a blog was something I have always wanted to do. So here it is! Finally checking this item off the list! I journal almost every day about things that happened throughout the day. I find it therapeutic. Why not share it with others?!

My name is Tonya, I am 34-year-old single mother to two kiddos, a daughter who is 14 and a 12-year-old son. I work as a Senior Product Data Analyst for a large office furniture manufacturing company. I feel blessed to be a part of such a wonderful company for the last 6 years.

I was born in Florida, mostly being raised in Mount Pleasant Michigan. My parents divorced when I was 6 which is when my mom moved my sister and me to Michigan. Both parents later each having two more kids leaving me the oldest of 6! My kid’s dad and I were what you might call middle school sweethearts, we started dating when I was 13, later separating when I was 26. During that time we were blessed with two kids Kayleigh and Kaden.

We relocated to Grand Rapids Michigan when I was offered my current position after graduating college in 2014 and could not be happier with the move! We bought a small fixer-upper home in a nice little neighborhood which has kept this momma busy for the last 4 years. You can see the progress we have made here. It was a hard adjustment for the kids at first. They were not too keen on moving away from life as they knew it, we have no family in the area and did not know anyone. We are now settled, they love their new schools and have made many new friends.

Our life is far from glamorous! Most days I spend working, raising teenagers, running them to friends and sports, trying to keep life together while not losing my sh**. In my free time, I like to read, listen to podcasts, whip up a new recipe, find new ways to budget (yes, I realize this sounds boring but hey I’m your typical American living on a budget!), staying active and house projects. I enjoy playing softball, volleyball, golfing, bowling, I would most likely beat you in a game of billiards pool!

Thank you so much for stopping by!

Follow along to learn about Life As a Thirty Something as I survive being a single mom always looking to improve life, parenting, wellness, relationships and update our home! Although I don’t have life figured out like my 20-year-old self thought I would by now, living in my 30’s has been the best years yet!
